PS to TDI Clubbers, I have tools and time (occaisionally) to fix things in the Southern MN area. So, my question is, Any ideas for the ecu communication failure? I'm planning on making sure the wires to the diagnostic port are positively connecting with everything they are supposed to, and that the under dash grounds are good, but any tips to avoid hours of wire chasing would be appreciated. Not sure if this may be related, but I figured that maybe a funky ground may be the problem for everything.

I checked all the fuses related to those items, and after finding none fried, and reinstalling all of them, everything worked normally again. I also noticed 4 days later that the dash lights and heater/AC/blowers were not working. When I tried to acces 01 Engine controller, the status portion of the Vag-Com window showed the software trying 3 times to access the controller, followed by a small error window popping up stating that the controller was not responding. The tool worked great until last weekend when I tried to log some data while on a road trip (wife driving). Purchased vag-com software/serial key+can interface in June under Tim Tuinstra zip code 55902. I'm hoping someone has some experience with the same problem so I can minimize following wires around under the dash. I just copied my post from the Vag-Com forum on VWVortex to here. Both times, the car simply lost power driving down the road at about 45mph. Get the most out of your Volkswagen with the Carly app (Android and iOS) and the Carly OBD Scanner VW diagnostics app VW coding app VW OBD app. Once at 900 miles and again at just under 2k. On my 20 Golf TDI, the EGR valve has gone out twice now.

I'm new here, just got my first TDI (98 Jetta) in May. I smell a factory recall to update software on all 2010 Clean Diesel VW and Audis.
